Weirdo Camp: a curious website
Weirdo Camp (external link to website) is one of the flagship projects associated with our membership at Terra Thesis Institute, providing a fascinating, sprawling, online text-based game experience that teaches readers philosophy and rapturously explores existential, ethical, and sublime themes in a format that may remind readers of an internet ARG (alternate reality game). Don’t let the name fool you: Weirdo Camp is not that weird, but is actually a casual online odyssey that boldly celebrates the paranormal and the sublime while laying a groundwork of reason and discourse. It also counts as literature in the alchemical tradition and can provide a useful amount of free and accessible postsecondary-level education in the humanities. The game elements are built into the site’s structure and its fun and unique content. Weirdo Camp’s playful navigation carries a steady, hefty, high quality dopamine payload that works over and over, and bests the more toxic dopamine bursts and busts delivered by major social media sites.
On Weirdo Camp’s design: Current trends indicate that we are nearing the end period of a mini-era in which social media and share-promoting layouts have pervaded the internet landscape. What has this recent stage of internet life done to our brains and our relationships? Unfortunately, the results have not been good. The Terra Thesis concept for our main and associated websites, by contrast (while they do love to be shared), is designed around a retro cyber-adventuring feel, with navigations and site experiences that hearken back to earlier and healthier stages of internet and computer culture, but with groundbreaking new content and features specially developed for today’s discourse and today’s needs. These sites do not rest on the use of stock photos, but rather on communicating ideas and sensations with text, ascii characters, and site architecture.
There is much to discover at Weirdo Camp.
Please donate to Terra Thesis Institute so that we can continue to develop and spread bright philosophies. Let’s watch the world change for the better together.
